

Aqua Body Strong™ Founder, Gymnast & Coach, Zumba, and Aqua Zumba Instructor
Gia Lucy grew up in Southern California, running, swimming, and surfing the Orange County Coast. As a former competitive gymnast and coach, Gia become enamored with movement, balance and health and pursued and earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from California State University, Fullerton. She and her husband owned and operated, a 1500 member gym, The San Clemente Gym, where Gia was a personal trainer and taught Zumba and Aqua Zumba. She believes life is about having fun, being healthy and playing in the water. She is excited to share her passion for fitness and bring her education and experience to you via Aqua Body Strong™.

Laura Mathieson
Former Competitive Swimmer, PiYo Instructor, Certified Personal Trainer,
Group Fitness Instructor
After a trip to Sea World at age 5, Laura knew exactly what she wanted to be when she grew up. In her youth she trained to be a competitive swimmer, in college studied Animal Science and after graduation enjoyed a 17-year career as a dolphin and whale trainer, swimming and performing in the water with marine mammals. Laura uses her experience to create fun and dynamic functional fitness routines on the Aqua Body Strong™ board. She is a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor and teaches multiple fitness classes on the land and in the water each week. Weather working with clients 1 on 1, in small group training classes or in large group settings, she believes in challenging her clients, both mentally and physically, to becoming their best.


Katy Coffey
YMCA Aquatics Director, Land and Water Based Fitness Instructor, Beach Body Live Instructor
Katy is certified in Group Fitness for both land and Water Fitness instruction. She has been working fulltime in Aquatics for the Past Ten years as a Director for the YMCA and has taught fitness since 2008. Currently she is a Master Trainer for Lifeguarding and Basic Life Support for both the American Red Cross as well as the American Health and Safety Institute.
Eric Lucy
Former Competitive Swimmer, Strength Coach, Martial Artist
Eric has been in the sports and fitness world his entire life. He began swimming competitively at the age of six and competed in water polo at the University and International levels. He started weightlifting at age 13 and quickly fell in love with it, adapting it to better his swimming and later his martial arts. He has been honored to coach students and adults in Hawaii, Brazil, Mexico and California. After owning and operating a 1500 member Gym in the San Clemente, California for fifteen years, he has returned to his love of small group and individual training through Aqua Body Strong™. His classes utilize natural strength movements for everyday life.


Janet Goodwin
Bodybuilding Champion, Certified Personal Trainer, Aquatic Fitness Instructor
Janet has been working in the fitness and wellness industry for over a decade. She is a former International bodybuilding champion, personal trainer, aqua fitness instructor and mentor, chef, and health, fitness and aging writer for a magazine in Australia. She operates her own personal training studio and provides healthy and nutritional advice for her clients. She teaches a variety of water-based classes including Aqua Body Strong™, hydro-therapy, deep water, core, weight resistance and water dance. Combining her passion for people, fitness and water Janet is part of the registered training – “Fitness Australia” which works towards a “fitter, healthy Australia” and holds attributes in older-adults, children’s, personal, and aquatic training.
Ingrid Perez-Martin
National Step Champion, AFAA Group Fitness Instructor, Kickboxing Instructor
Ingrid Pérez-Martin aka SAZÓN hails from New York City by way of Philadelphia. With a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from Penn State University and a former National StepTeam Champion with the Philly Felines of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Sazón fuses her performance arts background with her Caribbean roots from the Dominican Republic. Over the past decade, Ingrid has enjoyed teaching a variety of fitness classes from AFAA Group Fitness, ZUMBA®, POUND®, MIXXEDFITT®, SPIN, Cardio Kickboxing, and Bootcam. Ingrid is happy to join the Aqua Body Strong ® family as one of the newest Master Trainers. With a 10-year term at Einstein Hospital, her experience as a Nutrition Educator on program collaborations with Johnson & Johnson Community HealthCare Program & the American Heart Association "Feed Your Potential" Community Program, including a Masters in Health Education/Health Administration from St. Joseph’s ‘2011. Her mission is to connect both the health and fitness world to best serve her clients and help them lead healthier lifestyles.
