Meet the Team
Aqua Body Strong® Master Trainers are the heart of our global training team. Selected for their expertise, passion, and leadership, these elite professionals are entrusted with training and certifying new instructors in all Aqua Body Strong® programs. With backgrounds ranging from personal training and coaching to competitive athletics and group fitness, each Master Trainer brings a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience to every certification course.
Gia Lucy
Aqua Body Strong® Founder
Gymnast & Coach, Aqua Instructor, Group X Instructor
Gia Lucy grew up in Southern California, running, swimming, and surfing the Orange County Coast. As a former competitive gymnast and coach, Gia became enamored with movement, balance, and health and pursued and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from California State University, Fullerton. She and her husband owned and operated, a 1500-member gym, The San Clemente Gym, where Gia was a personal trainer and taught Zumba and Aqua Zumba. She believes life is about having fun, being healthy, and playing in the water. She is excited to share her passion for fitness and bring her education and experience to you via Aqua Body Strong®.
Janell Bonner
Spin, Yoga, TRX, Silver Sneakers and Aqua Instructor, Personal Trainer
Janell Bonner has over 30 years of experience in the fitness industry. After a successful 20-year career as a financial planner and mortgage banker, she turned her passion for fitness into a full-time profession.Janell has trained instructors as part of the United States Water Fitness Association and is now a Master Trainer for Aqua Body Strong, certifying instructors in Aqua Combat, Aqua Board, and Aqua Cycling. She is dedicated to inspiring clients to achieve their goals on both land and water.
Janell is also a proud mother twins and an avid traveler, aspiring to visit every continent.
Laura Mathieson
PiYo Instructor, Personal Trainer, Group X Instructor, Swimmer
After a trip to SeaWorld at age 5, Laura knew exactly what she wanted to be when she grew up. In her youth she trained to be a competitive swimmer, in college studied Animal Science and after graduation enjoyed a 17-year career as a dolphin and whale trainer, performing with marine mammals. Laura uses her experience to create fun and dynamic functional fitness workouts for Aqua Body Strong®. She is a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor. Whether working with clients 1 on 1, in small group training, or in large group settings, she believes in challenging her clients to become their very best.
Ingrid Perez-Martin
National Step Champion, Kickboxing and Group X Instructor
Ingrid Pérez-Martin aka SAZÓN hails from New York City by way of Philadelphia. With a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from Penn State University, Sazón fuses her performance arts background with her Caribbean roots from the Dominican Republic.
Ingrid enjoys teaching a variety of classes from Group Fitness and ZUMBA®, to Aqua Combat and Aqua Trampoline. Her experience as a Nutrition Educator for Johnson & Johnson Community HealthCare Program & the American Heart Association drives her passion to connect the health and fitness worlds and help people lead healthier lives.
Brittany Davenport
Personal Trainer, Martial Artist Aquatic Fitness Instructo
Movement on land and in the water has always been an important aspect of Brittany's life. Practicing various forms of martial arts, swimming on teams, and exploring the outdoor world, are what led her to choose a career as a fitness professional.
With over 15 years as a NASM certified personal trainer and ACE group exercise instructor, Brittany has had the opportunity to help people in various stages of their lives to move better, feel healthier, and enjoy exercising.
Being a Certified Master Trainer, for ABS™ Aqua Combat allows Brittany to blend her two favorite fitness formats, Aqua and martial arts. She is so excited to help bring this amazing class to faculties everywhere!
Eric Lucy
Personal Trainer, Martial Artist Weight Lifter, Strength Coac
Eric has been involved in sports and fitness his entire life. He started swimming competitively at age six and developed a passion for weightlifting at 13, quickly learning how to use it to improve both his swimming and later his martial arts. In college, he shifted focus from swimming competitions to water polo, competing at both the University and International levels.
Eric has had the privilege of working as a strength coach for students and adults in Hawaii, Brazil, Mexico, and California. After successfully owning and managing a 1,500-member gym in San Clemente, California for 15 years, he returned to his passion for small group and individual training through Aqua Body Strong®. His classes focus on using natural strength movements that apply to everyday life.
Lois Moncel
Certified Personal Trainer, Aqua Fitness Instructor, Group X Instructor
Lois brings more than 25 years of experience in the health and wellness industry, with a specialization in Aqua Fitness. As a Certified Personal Trainer, Aqua and Land Fitness Instructor, and Fitness Director, she is passionate about helping people improve their health, strength, and vitality.
As an Aqua Body Strong Master Trainer, she feels she has found the “Fountain of Youth”. She loves how the results-driven classes enable participants to build strength, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, and balance—all while being gentle on the body. Lois enjoys sharing these innovative formats with others, inspiring both clients and instructors to discover the many benefits of Aqua Body Strong®.
Tana Walsh
TRX, STEP, MOSSA Group Power, and AEA Certified instructor
Tana began her group fitness career nearly 40 years ago while studying for her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Texas Tech. She walked into a local gym, interviewed for an aerobics instructor position, and got the job!
That opportunity marked the beginning of two lifelong passions: teaching in schools and leading water fitness classes.
Known for her fun, challenging classes that emphasize community building, Tana brings the same enthusiasm to her role as a Master Trainer with Aqua Body Strong®. She loves helping others develop their skills as instructors and supporting their journey to success.
